Encouraging news for offshore mining: Trans-Tasman Resources received the environmental approvals for the iron sands offshore mining in New Zealand.
RCR congratulates TTR for being granted the environmental approvals for its offshore iron sand mining project in New Zealand. RCR Chairman, Paul Berend, said: “We are pleased to receive such encouraging news from New Zealand which has one of the most demanding environmental approvals processes in the world. One great step has been made today and it opens a new page in the history of sustainable off shore mining, operating responsibly and alongside fishing, tourism, oil and gas and other coastal activities.” Paul Berend founded TTR in 2007 and was its CEO until 2012 and remained a non-executive director until 2014.
RCR supports the submission of Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd for environmental approvals in New Zealand.
RCR makes a submission in favour for the environmental approvals of an offshore mining operation in New Zealand promoted by Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd. Paul Berend, the Executive Chairman of RCR stated: “Under the right conditions, we believe that offshore mining is far more environmentally sustainable than similar land based operations. Marine dredging of loose sediments does not require blasting or the use of any chemicals or tailings dams. Generally, the areas impacted are very small compared to land based operations, and environmental research suggests that the impacted marine eco-systems recover very rapidly, typically in a matter of months. The sea does most of the beneficiation work so human intervention is minimised. Obviously, the industry needs regulation and most importantly responsible behaviour, and at RCR our ambition is to champion the best environmental practices in the industry.”
Red Citadel Resources Pty Ltd is a privately owned mineral exploration company with a range of marine based projects in South America and Africa.
Our primary focus is to develop high quality marine phosphate deposits and to become an ultra-low cost phosphate rock producer fully integrated into the agricultural supply chain.
We see a unique opportunity to create value by developing the abundant and high quality marine phosphate deposits secured by RCR and deploying technical and operational solutions which are both sustainable for the marine ecosystems and beneficial for local communities.
We believe that marine phosphates can provide the agricultural industry with a dependable, high quality, and low cost supply for a critical and non-renewable mineral resource.
